Alcohol Rehabilitation: Getting Over the Fear of Detox

As a recovering alcoholic with over 22 years of sobriety, I have been blessed with the opportunity to help a number of fellow alcoholics new in recovery. Recently, a good friend who sought out my help was deathly afraid of one particular thing—going through detox.

In years past, alcohol rehabilitation didn’t have the resources available today with modern technology and medical advances, so detoxification from alcohol could indeed be very painful to endure. Detox symptoms can vary depending on the length of use and average amount of alcohol consumed daily. Nausea, vomiting, headaches, insomnia, the shakes (delirium tremens or DTs) are the more common symptoms of alcohol withdrawal, however, for alcoholics who have been drinking for longer periods of time, symptoms can be severe.

Fortunately, there are newer methods of treatment and medications that can help to greatly reduce the painful process of detox. 12 Palms Recovery Center is an alcohol rehabilitation center that has a caring staff of professionals  who are trained and medically certified to assist each client through the detox process. 12 Palms staff members are in place twenty fours a day, seven days per week to ensure that each client who is going though detox receives the proper level of care necessary to avoid extreme pain and suffering.

12 Palms is a rehab in South Florida that also utilizes the most modern medications that are now prescribed for detox patients, and when such medication is necessary, monitors each client’s vital signs and works to make clients as comfortable as possible during the detox process.

Once a client has successfully gone through the detox process, 12 Palms can then offer a comprehensive alcohol rehabilitation treatment plan that offers clients a design for living that works.

Detox is never easy to go through, and for many alcoholics, the thought of going through detox oftentimes gets in the way of making the decision to get sober because they just can’t deal with the pain. 12 Palms Recovery Center not only has a detox process that helps to ease that pain, but also has a caring staff who will help guide each client through that process as quickly and as painlessly as possible.
